Morlanda Vi de Guarda 2009 was Chosen as best Spanish wine in the Japan Wine Challenge 2013, this red wine from Priorat, area located in Tarragona, is revealed as a powerful wine full of nuances and flavours, becoming an almost exclusive experience.
Tasting Notes: Intense cherry red colour with violet tones. It has a complex aroma with notes of blackberries and cherries. Harmony between wood hints and the heavy fruit load that bring the Carignan and Grenache, balsamic, herbs, black chocolate and coffee beans, which enhances the aromatic complexity of this wine. In mouth it is powerful, heavily loaded tasty fruit, spices and minerals. Very good acidity and ripen tannins. Good persistence
Jay Miller´s Tasting Note (The wine Advocate, Robert Parker): The purple-coloured 2007 Morlanda Vi de Guarda is a blend of equal parts Garnacha and Carinena aged for 12 months in new French and American oak. Notes of balsam wood, lavender, blackberry, and black cherry compose the nose of this layered, concentrated wine. On the palate it is a bit one-dimensional but the flavours are tasty and 1-2 years of additional bottle aging could bring about some complexity.
